Hanging Planter Pocket Workshop

Join Ceramic Designer Alex Allday in her studio at Middleport Pottery to create your own porcelain hanging planter pocket. 

You’ll learn how to hand build in porcelain, along with how to apply a variety of surface decoration techniques using coloured slips, stains, different tools and objects to create sgraffito, textures and patterns on your own beautiful hanging planter pocket. Once fired the pockets are watertight so you can display real flower stems in them.

You will be able to practise the different surface decoration techniques onto a couple of porcelain tiles/ plaques or coasters before creating your pocket.  These will be fired with your pockets.

All abilities welcome and you do not need to have prior knowledge and experience in ceramics. With keeping it to a small group, you will each get one on one support and guidance throughout the workshop.

FAQs

- Your pieces will be fired after the workshop and will be ready to collect from my studio the following week. I can post them out to you at an additional cost to cover P&P

- Tea’s, Coffee’s and refreshments will be provided throughout the workshop.

- Aprons will be provided but wear old clothes and shoes

If you have any particular designs, patterns and objects for inspiration that you want to work from please bring them along.

If for any reason you need to cancel your booking then this needs to be done at least 14 days prior to the start of the workshop and a full refund will be given. Unfortunately any cancellations made within 14 days prior to the workshop start date are unable to be refunded.

If the workshop has to be cancelled due to covid-19 or illness then you will be offered the option to reschedule the workshop subject to my availability. 

Gift Vouchers

Gift vouchers can be sent if you are buying it as a gift for someone. Select the 'yes please' option from the drop down menu if you would like one. They are an additional cost of £1.50 and will be sent out 2nd class within 2 workings days after ordering.
