Join Ceramic Designer Alex Allday in her studio at Middleport Pottery for a half-day hanging planter decorating workshop. You will learn how to decorate your own porcelain hanging planter pots (1 large & 1 small) with a variety of surface decoration techniques and processes using coloured slips, stains and different tools to create sgraffito, textures and patterns. To finish you will be shown how to fettle/ clean up your planter pots ready to be fired. The planter pots will be ready slip casted for you to work straight on to and you will be able to practise your designs and shown techniques before decorating your planters.     Saturday 19th September   Time: 10am – 1pm Cost: £40 per person Which includes all materials and firing   Max number of participants 4 to ensure social distancing Min age 16+   Held in Alex’s Studio – @ No.5 , Middleport Pottery, Port Street, Stoke-on-Trent, ST6 3PE   I will be able to safely deliver this workshop at a 1m + distance by doing all demonstrations on my own workbench and you will carry out the workshop on your own table with your own tools and equipment. Masks, gloves and disposable aprons will be supplied if you would like them and there are hand washing facilities available in the studio with disposable paper towels.   All abilities welcome and you do not need to have prior knowledge and experience in ceramics. With keeping it to a small group, you will each get one on one support and guidance throughout the workshop.   Your pieces will be fired after the workshop and will be ready to collect from my studio the following week. I can post them out to you at an additional cost to cover P&P. Join ceramic designer Alex Allday in her studio at Middleport Pottery for a 4 week ceramic design course that will enable you to challenge your creativity in a fun and stimulating environment and equip you with a variety of different skills and knowledge within ceramics and surface design.   During this 4 week course you will learn the process of slip casting to cast your own stem vase, tealight holders and/or planter pots in porcelain. You will then be shown a variety of surface decoration techniques and how to fettle/clean up your pieces ready to be fired. Handmade Stem Vase with surface transfer print design, inspired by English Architectural styles and the intricate details and features of buildings such as St Pancras Station and The Royal Opera House.   H 20cm W 6cm   Please note there may be a slight variation in the colour shown due to different firings and print runs  

Learn how to slip cast in porcelain and decorate your pieces with ceramic designer Alex Allday in her studio at Middleport Pottery.   During this 1 day workshop you will spend the morning learning the process of slip casting using plaster moulds to cast your own Stem Vase and tealights/planter pots in porcelain. You will have the opportunity to cast 5 pieces. After lunch you will then learn how to decorate your casted pieces with a variety of different surface decoration techniques using coloured slips, stains and different tools to create sgraffito, textures and patterns.
